Important Update from the Early Learning Initiative (ELI)

Due to changing City priorities and the expanded state investment in child care through Act 76, the City of Burlington’s Early Learning Initiative will no longer be funded after June 30, 2025. This includes the end of the First Steps Scholarship Program, First Steps Training Program, and all other ELI-supported services.

We are proud of what ELI accomplished in partnership with families, child care providers, and community partners since its launch in 2017. As ELI sunsets, we encourage both families and providers to explore the state-level resources and supports now available. If you have questions about the transition or available supports, please contact Rebecca Reese, rreese@burlingtonvt.gov.
